Data Scientist / ML Engineer – Applied AI Research & AI Agents
We are looking for a hands-on and innovative Data Scientist or Machine Learning Engineer for an assignment within applied AI research, aimed at driving measurable improvements in operational efficiency at a leading industrial company in the automotive sector. This role is part of a specialized team focused on exploring and implementing AI agents and large language models (LLMs) to augment or automate business processes across the organization.
Most important for this role is finding the right person – not the fastest start. We are seeking a candidate who combines technical depth with curiosity, creativity, and a passion for turning cutting-edge AI research into tangible business value.
About the role
You will work across the full spectrum of applied AI – from early experimentation and prototyping to production-level deployment. Your contributions will shape the next generation of intelligent systems supporting the organization.
Key responsibilities
Lead technical exploration of new AI technologies with business impact in focus
Improve and adapt the AI agent framework to fit evolving use cases and data landscapes
Build robust data ingestion and processing pipelines
Conduct LLM experimentation (e.g., agent orchestration, model comparisons, RAG strategies)
Operationalize research prototypes with secure, scalable cloud infrastructure
Present insights and progress through demos, documentation, and stakeholder communication
Own and maintain CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure-as-code (Terraform) in AWS
Ideal experience
Strong hands-on experience with LLMs in production environments (e.g., OpenAI API, LangChain)
Knowledge of AI agent frameworks like Autogen, Crew AI, or similar
Deep understanding of prompt engineering and retrieval-augmented generation (RAG)
DevOps/MLOps skills: GitLab CI/CD, Docker, Terraform, reproducibility
Experience with Python, SQL, data wrangling at scale
Familiarity with AWS services such as SageMaker, EC2, Fargate, and S3
Vector stores: OpenSearch, Pinecone, or similar
Nice to have
Experience with human-in-the-loop systems, agent memory, or tools integration
Familiarity with evaluation frameworks for LLMs or agent-based systems
Past work in applied research or internal innovation teams
We look forward to hear from you.
